Review on Powerful Performance Unleashed: Rockwell RK3137K 6.2 Amp Hammer Drill by Carlos Chan

Top Quality, Specific Task

My previous rock drill bit was dead so I contacted Rockwell based on my experience with a previous Rockwell drill bit I bought and used almost 40 years ago. Some time ago this drill finally gave out (the contacts of the switch are finally worn out). I expect the RK3137K to last just as long (which means it'll probably outlive me). This is truly powerful, professional-grade equipment, made with quality materials to last. It's definitely optimized for use as a hammer drill — the drill bit and cord weigh about 5-1/2 pounds without the handle, depth rod, or drill bit. If you're thinking of using this as both a general purpose drill and a hammer drill, don't plan on frequent one-handed use unless you're spending time at the gym. The device is ergonomically well designed and feels good in the hand. The rubberized grip on the back feels comfortable. The device comes with its own carrying case containing a drill bit, detachable handle, depth rod and a set of six masonry drill bits. a forward/reverse toggle switch just above the trigger and a rotary/hammer mode switch on the top of the unit. It offers enough power and torque. The included 10ft (non-grounded) cord is handy and means you can go without an extension cord in some cases. The 1/2" wrench chuck runs smoothly and grips well. Of course, performance depends on a masonry bit as much as the bit itself, but this device, combined with a good bit, certainly performs at the top of the scale. I've only two small criticisms of the RK3137K: firstly, i'm disappointed with the key holder which is molded into the power cord holder.Technically it works well once you get used to it, but I doubt it will last, very long considering that you have to plug and unplug the key every time you want to use it. Grass to find it. It's also very easy to get distracted, put the key somewhere and then go to the next work place - just to scratching your head and wondering where you left your key Great idea by some designers I'm sure but a standard wired key holder would be a better choice St. negotiated with one of the hardware stores. Second, although the forward/reverse switch is usually located above the trigger switch, it seems prone to random operation for some reason. This may be due to the weight of the drill or perhaps the size of the lug on the switch. Anyway, I've had other exercises with this layout but haven't come across it. In terms of improvements - this exercise pretty much covers all the bases, but one thing I'd like to add is the mechanism for activating the low speed/high torque mode. But again, it's optimized for use as a puncher and I'm very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone.
