I was happy to receive my order earlier than promised so I opened the box and was pleased to find the shelves were well bubble wrapped and there was a thank you note for the support in the US. Before I removed the bubble wrap, I noticed a noticeable tear in the middle of one of the shelves, so I moved the broken shelf a bit and felt for the tear. It went through the front of the board and I could feel the crack on the opposite side of the shelf. This led to the conclusion that the shelves were made by gluing two smaller pieces of wood together. The wood pieces are beautiful in themselves and that didn't do them justice. One of the pictures also shows the bracket with a curved end, which is probably why the shelf isn't fitting snugly against the wall. I ordered a replacement hoping it was just an anomaly. Most frustrating are the attempts to support the American business and the end result is a poor quality product. How can you ship such a product to a customer and expect them to be happy with it? I just saw another customer's review describing an error that matches mine and I realized what if I returned her order? Could this be a quality control issue? I'll have to wait for my replacement order to find out. Please don't make me shoot any more review stars... I got my replacement order and you know what? The same problem with the seam remained. The replacement shelves this time are three narrower pieces and the stain was lighter than the first order, but the stitching is coming apart and in the high humidity area where I live the stitching doesn't last long. Disappointing. Otherwise this product would be great because they are good solid wood pieces.
