These pencils are amazing! I can't believe how incredibly cheap they are. I ordered another set for twice the price and they don't compare to this one. The tin was bent and easily broken, but luckily the pencils were in perfect condition in their plastic case. They were also completely wrapped in a plastic seal so at least I know they were brand new. The appearance of the packaging was excellent apart from the dents. I like the logo there and all black. The pencils themselves are great, now with a round body instead of the hex crap which is usually a deal breaker for me. There are no names or numbers so you have to refer to the stripes on the bottom of the pins which I like, don't know why everyone hates that. I don't want to pick up every pencil to read its page to find my color. No thank you. They are very light with a soft finish and I don't seem to have had any sharpness issues so far. I think the wood is of good quality. The leash is also of good quality. I think they are wax based crayons. Based on this conclusion just from my experience with pencils and the many sets I already own. I put them in the same case as my Prisma firsts, if that gives you any clue ;) and I'll tell you why! They are so easy to blend, on par with Prismas. They go together and go just as well, maybe better, with others. I don't know if that's possible, if it makes sense or if I'm crazy ha. The colors are so bold. They are all on the dark side. This is partly why I only gave it 4 stars. I do a lot of landscape and realistic drawings, portraits etc. Unfortunately they aren't pale enough for portraits unless you use a lot of white, which I try to keep to a minimum in my drawings because I had to use a lot to get it to make many different sets of colored pencils. Nobody seems to be able to compete with the color palette of Prismas or Polys. But other than that downfall, they are absolutely amazing in everything else! Lots of green and blue. I would say too much yellow and orange and too narrow shades. Almost no pink tones, but lots of beautiful purple tones. They all fit so damn well! I can not get used to it. Okay, go ahead as far as solvents go, I've found that coconut oil and alcohol work best for me with my paper types and methods. Don't even hesitate folks! It's $10! I will buy a second set before the price jumps! Do that!
