This works fine, but when I found that my front and rear calipers have different exhaust valve sizes, all you need is a pipe and a check valve. Noticing that my rear calipers had smaller exhaust valves, I put a box wrench on the valve, removed the tube from the Fit Tool and placed it onto the exhaust valve. I opened the exhaust valve, pressed the brake pedal and everything. You don't have to pay for a key if you have a set of keys. The Fit Tool is beautifully made and easy to use. I don't know when I last bled my brakes or when I will do it again, so I'd say it's a tool, although a good one isn't needed for your do-it-yourself mechanics.
