Review on AOC CQ27G3S Frameless 2560X1440 FreeSync 165Hz Gaming G3 Series Monitor with Adjustable Height and Adaptive Sync Technology by Michael Nunes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent monitor in features and specs

It's a very good screen for the price: 34-inch, UWQHD (3440 x 1440), 165MHz refresh rate, fast response time, but it takes some effort to set up. The display is tiltable and can be moved up and down. Bright bright display, so far no screen tearing. Shown alongside a 17" laptop display. Note. I have a Prometheus XVII laptop with an i9-12900 processor, an RTX 3080Ti graphics card with 1 Thunderbolt 4 port (DisplayPort connection is through the onboard 3080Ti GPU, no dedicated GPU) and 1 HDMI 2.1 port for one external monitor. Many machines with i9-12900 processors go through an integrated GPU card, which seems to be architecturally and security-related.- To enable USB ports on the back of the monitor, connect a mouse, webcam, keyboard, or other peripherals . You need to buy a USB 3.0 upstream cable AB cable. Works great, I prefer wired connections for the mouse and keyboard so the cables aren't visible. -A change in BIOS setting was required to allow onboard graphics and discrete graphics to connect to a USB-C to DisplayPort connector via DisplayPort 1.4. As a result, a refresh rate of 165 MHz was achieved. the card effectively goes through the output of the 3080Ti. - Speakers are weak but ok, similar to many laptop speakers, but the monitor has an audio output for those looking for better sound and hidden cables. - I connected both HDMI and Display Port at the same time, but the monitor is connected to a 165MHz DP connection. But why? The simple answer is that as mentioned above, HDMI connects directly to the dedicated RTX 3080Ti and DisplayPort connects to the dedicated card via the integrated graphics card. This allows me to use the i-MENU tool downloaded from AOC to adjust display settings like brightness - this works via an HDMI cable, although no connection is used, without having to fiddle with the fiddle buttons at the bottom of the screen. Please note that the video on the phone was recorded in FHD at 60 frames per second, the screen worked UWQHD at 165MHz
