Utility tangs are indispensable for DIY work around the house and in the workshop. I have a huge 16" pair that I use for plumbing and pool renovation projects. My only other pair is the 8" and it recently fell apart. So I'm really excited to be able to add these two instruments to my collection. This is a Black and Decker brand so my expectations were a bit high. The pliers definitely have doesn't disappoint. The forged steel construction is immaculate and feels fairly solid despite being extremely thin at the top (less than 1/8"). It's a bit thicker on the 12" instrument, but not by much. The fit and finish are very nice. The instruments make a solid and well-made impression. The sliding motion is smooth. The handles are comfortable and easy to grab if you need to use some force. The orange rubber grip material has been cushioned so they don't slip like some of my pliers. The jaws have a low-profile design for working in tight spaces, and the serrated handles are angled indentations to securely grip a variety of different shapes and forms of objects. sizes. All in all, these are very good pliers. The design, materials, and build quality are a few notches above what you would get at a discount tool store. My only concern is the thickness of the steel in the top half, which appears unusually thin. I wish it was made a little thicker.
