I use them to hold boards on a straight edge and it seems like I have to use different spacers under the for each different thickness of board I'm working with use brackets. The major disadvantage is that the handles are horizontal when engaged, which requires the whole device to be considerably wider and therefore much heavier than if the handles were vertical. I use 3/4" MDF so the screws bite enough and the weight is noticeable. While they work I'll look into another option.
