Good inexpensive shelf

Bought this shelf for books not CDs so didn't use all the shelves but it's just what I needed for the limited space in my apartment. I ordered a maroon color but what I got was definitely darker so either the picture is misleading or I was sent the wrong color - it's nice nonetheless so I don't mind. I'm not particularly crafty so it definitely took a while to assemble, but I found the instructions mostly adequate and everything was there (only screwdrivers and a hammer needed). The only thing that seemed sloppy was the insertion of wooden dowels (small pins for extra stability) into some of the boards - many of which I had to leave out as the holes in the shelves weren't cut cleanly and the dowels didn't really fit. However, 4 screws on each layer is enough for stability (and maybe others with power tools could adjust to that, unlike me). When the shelf is set up, the shelf looks very beautiful. You get exactly what you pay for, which is a fairly cheap shelving unit that has chipboard looking as smooth as can be. (Note: I installed the back panels upside down like an idiot, so ignore that part of the picture - I just wanted to show how the unit looks as a whole and how the color differs from the picture on the purchase page.)
