USB-C alternate mode required - manufacturer documentation required

The product does not work with laptops with USB-C basic mode connection. It's immediately recognized by Windows 10 but goes through the driver installation process and never connects the displays. A little research shows that this dock requires USB-C video support, but many laptop models don't have this feature. We tested a 2-year old HP EliteBook 840 G3 and a 3-month old HP Pavilion x360 2-in-1. Both had the same problem. Unsurprisingly, the manufacturer claims to have tested only select Dell laptops with Thunderbolt 3 support, since video is part of that standard. This dock requires USB-C Alternate Mode, but this is not mentioned anywhere in the ad or documentation. Please update the list so that people looking for an affordable alternative to DisplayLink docks are aware of this requirement. I can't comment on the company's tech support, but as always, Revain's customer service has been excellent. They approved my return of the device and a replacement that I sent in for testing. They then authorized the return of the second device, which of course didn't work. Thank you Revain for such excellent customer service. Important cable information. You'll save people some headaches by suggesting that they should check the device's USB-C connector specs. Their description states: THUNDERBOLT 3 and USB-C COMPATIBLE Dual Monitor Docking Station for Surface Book 2, Dell XPS 12/13/15, Latitude 5000/7000, Precision 3000/5000/7000, Alienware 13/15/17, HP Elite X2 , Z1 Workstation, Spectre, x360, EliteBook, ZBook 17/15/Studio, Envy 27, Lenovo IdeaPad Y900, Miix 720, ThinkPad P 50/70, T 470/470S/570, X270, X1 Carbon, X1 Yoga, Yoga 370/900/910, Gigabyte Aorus X5 15, X7, Razer Blade/Stealth/Pro, ASUS ROG GL/G5/G7/GX/Strix, ZenBook Pro Can personally confirm that not all EliteBook or x360 models are compatible. On the plus side, the design seems very good. However, there is a small issue with the design. When the device is connected to the USB port on the right side of the notebook and the device is held vertically, the HDMI ports face the user. You can flip the device and connect it upside down, but it's not quite right.
