Improvements in lighting and softbox portability

I recently got this combo and I think it's fantastic value for money. I also bought square softboxes to match the LED panels which I highly recommend to reduce the harshness of the direct light. The batteries make it a very attractive option for portability, but there are two small issues I wanted to address. The time it takes to attach the softbox to the panel and then pack everything back up. It's almost impossible to put the softboxes back in their original little case and you still have 4 pockets (2 panels, 2 softboxes) and straps to carry when you're done. My solution was to purchase an 18 x 18 x 5 pizza carrier bag. Now I just fold the softboxes together and leave them attached to the panels. Both fit in a pizza carrier and the coasters fit in my tripod bag. The installation takes a few seconds. 2. Forward tilt does not work with attached softboxes. This is a known problem and the simple fix is to buy a swingarm. There are many and I bought the Anwerk version which also includes the adapter for the flashes and umbrellas I needed. The cost was about $300 including lights, softboxes, coasters, batteries, chargers, swivel adapter and umbrella. Softboxes may not be large enough for a professional studio, but I find them excellent for portability and they do the job perfectly. Very happy with this combination. and now even better for on the go.

Pros
  • Convenient design: Mounting handles on both sides of the panel are for tilt adjustment; barn doors attachable to light sources create a beam spread of light; Equipped with two batteries and rechargeable batteries. Chargers not reliable for a long time
