Issues and Dangers - Stand

I bought this stand about five months ago for use with a thin Moto G series phone, partly for navigation purposes. After washing the adhesive backing of the mount with soap and water and drying it, I placed the mount on a textured board similar to the one shown in the product photos. When I pushed the lever to turn on the suction, the mount seemed secure. My first issue was that the mount itself had few features compared to cheaper mounts. There was no release mechanism to extend my arm, meaning I had to use both hands to slide the phone into the cradle. The phone could be rotated or tilted forward or backward, but there was no height adjustment or a way to slide the phone forward. I could tell by the minimalist design, but the meaning was clear as soon as I picked up the mount. I soon found that the mount would not hold securely to the dash. Too many times to count, the bracket slowly detached from the dash and tumbled forward. Luckily I was able to catch a mount most of the time, but it was very frustrating to realize that this would likely happen a few times while traveling the interstate. I tried to reattach it to the dashboard because in such cases there was no easy way to get the phone out of the mount without disruption. Washing and drying was not a viable option under such circumstances. My navigational aids were no longer as useful and safe as I had planned. Temperature didn't seem to matter; it fell in the summer, just like during the much cooler Thanksgiving holiday that week. I haven't tried the windshield mount because I really don't want it there. Anyway, I'm fed up now. I paid full price for the mount but it wasn't worth it.
