I ordered this to replace my 5 year old Logitech k830. The K830 was great, but eventually the charging port broke. That's why I decided to buy a new keyboard that runs on batteries. This MS keyboard came up in a search for "wireless backlit touchpad keyboard" and I (too hastily) pulled the trigger. It arrived today and it's actually a very good keyboard - the keys and touchpad are nice and the whole device feels very solid. but no backlight. Thinking I might find one, I started an exchange for this Microsoft keyboard. I found and ordered an unbranded (rii) keyboard similar to the k830. Then I read a bunch of horrible reviews about bad battery life, difficult charging and keyboards suddenly dying and canceled this order. It looks like I'll have to buy another k830 to get what I need and it won't be as quick and easy as the Revain swap. Now I think I'll cancel the return of this unit, keep it as a spare and order another k830 direct from Logitech where it's still $80. Too bad this Microsoft keyboard doesn't have a backlight. If that were the case it would be a great budget alternative to the k830, but without a backlight it's not great for home theater use and nothing special for the price.
