Fast, reliable and CHEAPER than CFE!

Use on my Nikon Z6. This is one of the reasons I bought the Z6 so I can record to the SSD. Cfexpress cards are too expensive and I often lose SD cards. and they fill up too fast. Zitay recommends a Samsung Nvme SSD which I've used and they work great, but I've tried others and they work too. The Nikon Z6's low bit rate (maximum around 120 MB/s) is slow enough to use any Nvme SSD. However, you still have a 30 minute limit per clip. (Wish Nikon would remove that.) For longer recordings I use an external Atomos recorder and then I can get 10 bit and use N-Log which looks even better after you apply the official Nikon to the Rec709 LUT. I didn't think so, but it looks better than ANY built-in picture profile, probably because of the high bitrate or ProresHQ (I was surprised!), and your camera's firmware needs to be updated to use cfexpress cards if used initially only used XQD cards. I had to buy an XQD card and another XQD reader to update the firmware (it was really cheap). Another point, buy this adapter from Revain if you live outside of China! I bought something else from Zitay (they are nice people btw) but it took me TWO WEEKS to get to my US home. Obviously OUR postal service is suffering from severe cutbacks and the post is very slow at the moment. All in all it's worth it and a great companion for your camera if it can record to cfexpress cards! It's fast and reliable.

Pros
  • CFexpress card reader Up to 10 Gbps, USB 3.1 Gen 2, backwards compatible with USB 3.1 Gen 1 and USB 3.0. Transfer high-resolution images and videos to your computer faster and more efficiently.
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly
