Update: I have cats. To keep them clean I bought a set of lint rollers and that seems to help. Has worn incredibly well so far - still looks pristine after lots of cat hair and daily hops from wild little kids. Definitely spot cleaning only. So I ordered this set of 4 pillowcases for my sofas. I needed firmer, filled pillows, so I bought 20" x 20" pillow forms and these 18" x 18" pillowcases. I am very happy with how fluffy and firm my pillows are. I was surprised that the fabric wasn't traditionally "soft," regular fabric, or velvety. It's actually a little textured but not rough, giving the impression of a more rustic/'jute' fabric but without the scratching. Actually quite comfortable. It also seems that the fabric could be an outdoor fabric. I'm not sure, it just looks like something outdoors. This is normal for us; We have kids and cats and a heavier fabric will last longer. Overall I am satisfied with this purchase. I was just surprised it wasn't a softer, more velvety fabric. Anyway, it works great in my living room. I don't think they wash well. Try to only clean the surface.
