On our previous dogs we have been able to use a dremel tool without incidence or fear from the dogs. However our new pup is a rescue, very skiddish and freaks out at the noise.This is easy and quick. I pet her and help hold her paws as my husband clips her nails. We will have to do it again since we did not clip as far as we needed to. How ever it was much better than the maddening and frightful experience of trying to use the dremel tool.I definitely recommend for more fearful animals. The size I ordered was large, since our pit-mix is about 45lbs with thicker nails. I love the angle of the nail clipper, I do not think we can "over clip". I think for some animals you may have to clipper more than once to get the length you desire--- this is what we need to do--but once we get on a regular schedule, I think it won't be an issue.
