Review on Broan 403023 Black Ducted Range by Luke Hodes

Bought this hood to replace an old (25+ year old) 30" Ventline hood. Everything worked out very well - the Broan hood fitted almost perfectly under our closets where the old one did Hood was removed and my husband installed it with ease.We stood back to look at the beauty only to realize we still had to remove the protective blue plastic strip that was on the very front of the unit.I took it off and found some scratches on the black paint How they got UNDER the protective strip remains a mystery as the shipping box was in perfect condition, there were no signs of UPS abuse and even after application the strip had no nicks or holes to indicate damage All we could find was that the fan was scratched by the manufacturer, but instead of scrapping it or repairing the damage, they included it covered with a blue protective strip and still put on the market. Since the hood was fully assembled when we discovered the damage, we didn't feel like taking it off, packing it up and sending it back to Revain. I took a black marker and painted over the scratches as best I could and really unless you're around looking for it the scratches are a lot less noticeable. The moral of the story is that it would be best to remove that blue bar before installing so you can find any possible damage before installing and return it if you wish. The fan itself is very quiet on low settings, a bit noisy on high settings; The suction power seems reasonable but not outstanding, which I wasn't expecting anyway given the price. The dome can hold a lightbulb of up to 75W, and we've included an LED lightbulb that puts out plenty of bright white light, but doesn't get hot enough to melt the plastic covering that covers the lightbulb. If it wasn't for the scratches on the case I would have given it 5 stars.
