Mostly useless when sewing
You can hang paper on it, but no more. They cannot adhere strongly enough to most surfaces and do not support weight. They can be useful when crafting with paper, but there is also a high chance that they will tear the paper and not work like regular velcro. They will not stick to other surfaces for fabric projects or other craft projects. Basically: useless.
