Review on Lenovo Android Octa Core Processor ZA3V0005US by Mike Kimball

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Mine arrived with a defective backlight.

I bought one of these tablets directly from Lenovo. The tablet itself is good. The form factor is good, the specs are good even if the CPU and GPUs are a bit slow for high-end gaming. The problem is that mine came with a faulty backlight and there doesn't seem to be a viable way to do anything about it. I've been on the phone with Lenovo Tech Support and Lenovo Customer Service for several hours now trying to get a replacement. On several occasions I have been told that "my replacement request has been entered into their system" and that it may take "24-48 hours" to be approved. The first time was November 2nd and I stopped getting updates. I called back on November 6th and had to start over even though I had a "Helpdesk ID" number from the previous person I spoke to. Now I'm stuck here waiting for confirmation that I suspect will never come and a quick closing window to return this thing and get something else. If you decide to buy one of these, I sincerely hope you get one that isn't broken. It took about 15 days and a few more calls but I finally got a replacement and everything seems fine. The new one works perfectly Edit I've been using this tablet for about a month. I also have a Kindle Fire 10 which is a few years old. I only use my tablet for email, YouTube and thinking about Duolingo/Khan Academy and news and so on. I noticed that the Google Yoga News app doesn't scroll smoothly. Not sure if this is entirely the tablet's fault, but it scrolls smoothly on my phone. I'm playing Bloons TD6 on Yoga and it works great, which again seems to mean that the scroll jerks in the Google News app are coming from the app itself and not the tablet. I use the Kindle app to read about yoga and the way it's done feels more natural than the Kindle Fire. The round side is very book-like, while the back is rounded and has a sort of rubbery texture that feels relatively nice in the hand. The volume button is on the lower left side of the device, so I've never accidentally pressed it while reading, but it's hard to press when you're watching videos or playing games. The screen is bright and sharp, and since it's not a Kindle, you can install any other launcher of your choice. For me, this was one of the main reasons I gave up my Kindle Fire. I use a lot of widgets and this tablet allows me to use it the way I want. I also really like the small stand. He holds it at a comfortable angle for typing on the table, or upright for watching videos while you cook dinner. I haven't hung up the phone yet, but I'm sure I will one day. If I didn't have the first backlight issue, this would be exactly the tablet I wanted. I've been using this tablet for a few months now and I have to say I freaking love this thing. The strange design looks really natural. A light rubber coating and curves lie securely in the hand. The battery life also seems exceptional. I would open a small stand and place it on the counter to watch Netflix, Hulu, or Prime while I cook, and I'd stream for hours and still have battery left. What I didn't expect is that there is a slight bulge on the stand. It looks like you could turn it upside down and put the tablet in a comfortable position for typing and typing on it, but it wobbles back and forth like that. I wish it was a little more powerful, but between this and my Kindle, I prefer this one. The screen looks better, the battery is better, and it performs better than Kindle readers.
