I made the mistake of buying several of these. All of them stopped working from a few months to a little over a year. The problems range from skipping discs to the device not reading discs at all. When the warranty period has expired, Sony will provide you with a workshop number where the cost of return shipping is higher than the cost of the device itself (and this excludes the cost of repairs). Sony used to be good. Now they just produce cheap junk that is destined to break down and be replaced while the plastic carcasses end up in landfill. At the moment I swear by Sony. Useless company. (By the way, I have an Emerson CD boombox that's over 20 years old and I still use it every day, so obviously it's possible to build one that lasts.)
