I needed a drive for the Bootcamp partition on my MacBook Pro and didn't want to spend $100 on Apple's SuperDrive. The aesthetics of this drive leaves a lot to be desired, it looks like a raw prototype, with rough plastic around the edges that isn't smoothed out. It won't sit flat because the plastic arches bulge out at the bottom. BUT, it works as it should, doesn't make any noise and the speed is reasonable, so that's something. And I guess for under $40 I probably don't have the right to expect much more; You get what you pay for.
