How well this works depends on your purpose and setup I guess. I'm new to computer hardware. My first mistake was buying a cheap noisy hard drive. Silence them? no Do you turn it down? Partly yes. I had to use a drill to widen the hard drive mounting holes in my computer case. I started with a 5/32" bit and gradually increased the size to 1/4". I don't think the product is faulty; I just made the mistake of thinking it was a silver bullet. If I started with a quieter hard drive, maybe it could be a whisper with this one. EDIT: The installation may have contributed to my hard drive crashing after a few days. The price and the monthly delivery time seem worth less and less.
