Update (9/4/20): I grabbed the fan to move it and my finger could get in the protective screen slipped and the tip of the blade touched my finger (oops!) but more disastrous for the fan. A fan blade broke off, but the motor also broke its bracket. Upon closer inspection, it turned out that the grille had 1/8" standoffs on the side I was gripping to push the grille away from the fan blade, exposing the gap where my finger had entered. Lowering my rating from 3 to 2 stars. RECOMMENDATION: DO NOT move the fan while it is running or keep your fingers away from the vents if necessary. DO NOT let children operate it, as their fingers are smaller than adults' and they are easier to get stuck in the gap. Summary: This is advertised as a tent fan, so I wanted to test if it would work offline using a solar panel and/or power bank/torch. Observations: 1) The first thing I wanted to check was the current draw, so I used a USB meter and found that the fans read 500mAh in HI mode, 425mAh in MED mode and 275mAh in LO mode consume, so the solar panel should ride along This fan (which charges a 1000mah (1.0A) iPhone) 2) Weighing 13 ounces, it may be a little heavy to hang on the tent window (all promotional images are illustrative , not really). Recommendations: 1) Use a silver marker to mark the fan rotation and direction on all four sides of the fan case; 2) The sharp edges of the metal bracket are sawn off. Advantages: 1) speed control; 2) auto off timer; 3) If you get a quotation with two brackets, you can use two brackets to prevent it from falling (see the picture). Cons: 1) The cable to the fan has no strain relief; To repair, drill a 1/4" hole in the fan housing and zip-tie the cable to create proper strain relief. 2) The edges of the metal plates with magnets are quite sharp as they are designed to fit straight into the tent mesh which is usually thin, these metal parts must be absolutely smooth so as not to cut into the tent mesh, loosened by sawing 3 ) The magnets are not permanently attached to the metal plates, detached by gluing the magnets to the plates. 3 stars based on these shortcomings at this price ($30). Can be used in a standalone scenario, powered by solar panel during the day and power bank at night (solar panel charges the power bank during the day).
