Two features: (1) Remote control instead of automatic on/off motion detection. Reasons: I like the idea of turning the lights on before entering an area and I might want the lights to stay on after I exit. This is all the more important as I plan to use one of the units as emergency lighting in a small hallway. And I really appreciate the simple and intuitive features of this remote that let you choose when you want it to turn off automatically if you're worried you'll forget to turn it off. This is done with four buttons for 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours. I usually just press the "on" button and then the "15 minutes" button (just in case I forget to turn it off). If you want to keep the light on indefinitely, don't press any of the timer buttons and it will stay on until you press the "off" button. It also has a similar brightness setting. I just leave the setting at 50%. 2) I also prefer to use regular "AAA" batteries rather than the USB charger found in most devices. Seems easier to use.
