I have tried countless dog beds thanks to my rescue dog who struggles with house training. He has never lived in a house before and is slowly getting better, but not before urinating on everything at ground level. I've found out the hard way that most "waterproof" beds are waterproof at best. He hasn't peed on this bed yet so I can't confirm the water resistance yet but will update if necessary. But I can tell that the first night she arrived he took her off my bed where she fluffed up. picked it up and chewed it (I was out of the house and he's chewing something out of separation anxiety). He's a pit mix with a super strong jaw, but this bed survived his restless chewing with no damage! If you have trouble with your pup chewing on beds, this could be a good option for you! The mattress itself looks like its high quality orthopedic foam. It's firm yet soft enough for comfort. I prefer sofa beds for my older puppies with arthritis so I use both a mattress and waterproof cover in a different brand large sofa bed which is very good quality but not waterproof (I had to replace the mattress that came with this one , throw it away because it was completely destroyed by urine). After all, the price couldn't be better for such a high-quality, chew-resistant mattress. Highly recommend and would buy again!
