I ordered this to hang a fairly heavy mirror that was within the weight limit. The length was easy to adjust. I simply glued the slack to the back of the mirror. If you need to cut it I recommend using wire cutters or something designed for that sort of thing. The mirror hangs perfectly and is very durable.
