We have already tried this Reolink Argus 3 Pro camera and solar panel combo a few times. Those two didn't work for us. But with a little discount from Reolink, we tried again as its performance is impressive. It performs much better this time around, with several notable advantages over the competition. PRO:1> Initial camera setup was easy with Google or Apple's Reolink app. Launch the app, scan the barcode, enter the Wi-Fi information and that's it, the camera is connected to the network and ready for customization. Reolink stated that the camera can use the 2.4GHz or 5GHz channel. We have not tried 5 GHz. 2> Wi-Fi connection is reliable. Better than other similar cameras we've tried 3> 2K video is great in daylight, sunny or cloudy. Black and white at night. More on that later.4> The field of view is good. The camera can completely cover our entire front yard as well as our neighbors across the street. Reolink offers a mounting height of 2-3 meters or 6-9 feet 5> The solar panel keeps the camera fully charged all day long in both sunny and cloudy weather. So you don't have to worry about the cost and availability of electricity.6. In addition to the mobile app, there is a Windows client app that can be used to provide additional settings and monitoring. Please note that this application can only find the camera by its UID number. So, as for the camera and solar panel, we think they should provide adequate 24/7 security surveillance. CONS: 7> For some reason, the night shot doesn't match. hits and misses. Daytime recording is better, but we had to spend a lot of time trying different sensitivity settings. Nothing between LOW and MID triggers recording. Works between MID and HIGH. We've tried different sensitivity settings and may continue to do so until we get the right result.8> Panel and camera mounting hardware requires some work. Impossible to fix without using pliers to tighten the plastic nuts. Nevertheless, they can be moved with a light hand pressure.9> There is a MASK setting in the display menu. This blocks areas (up to 3) for motion detection, but also affects browsing. So this feature is useless.10> No phone or online chat support. Because of this, a number of fake websites offer phone support and scam their customers. So, kind advice: DO NOT look up Reolink technical support phone number. Anything that shows up will be a scam. This was confirmed through email correspondence with Reolink. Technical support via email is pretty fast. NEUTRAL: 11> The solar panel cable is quite long, which is good in most cases as it allows the panel to be in a good place to receive solar energy. But in our case, the panel and camera can be installed in one place. So the length becomes a burden. The third-party solar panel has a built-in slot on the back of the panel. This provides space for excess cord to wrap around it. Accuracy. In summary, the Argus 3 Pro is a solid choice for home security. There are many other comparable cameras out there, but this camera combo is as good as the best out there. highlighted.
