When the reviews said it was durable I didn't get it. No, this is not a real basket. I wouldn't send my kid to college with him. Looks good, that's a plus. It's big, so that's another plus. The plastic can be described as a combination of these two red, white and blue cheap large shopping bags, maybe a little less durable but the same idea. Cheap! I only used it for the laundry room in the basement so it's ok. I wouldn't put that in my bathroom. Maybe I would give it to my son who breaks everything, but my daughter wouldn't want that piece of shit in her room, she's too cool. So you are the judge. It works, but I wanted a durable laundry basket. Obviously it can only be used for a while (maybe a good 6 months). I was looking for a permanent solution. But it looks good.
