So, I'm a 5'8 man, Adidas and most running shoes are a size 9.5. Boots are usually over a 9. In canvas shoes like Chuck Taylors I go to an 8.5 and even 8 with thin socks. At 9.5, that's the perfect size for me. I don't use them for kung fu, so I can't talk about them, but I wear them in the yard to get my morning paper or pick up deliveries or do light gardening, or I wear them with or without socks. They expand enough to accommodate both. They are comfortable in warm weather. They are not water and frost resistant. I had to go with scissors to cut off the ends of the threads.
