Do not use the hygrometer function.

So. There is good and bad in this device. I'll end up returning it because it's bad, but it might still be for some people. Overall, though, I would recommend looking elsewhere. Pros: I like the size. It's small and compact, perfect for lying in the corner of a humidor (in fact, it fits perfectly over some of my sticks and a box). The temperature is also accurate to 1 degree. Large numbers are easy to read. There is no backlight, but since I don't look in the dark, that's not a problem either. The build seems decent, should hold up over time if used for what it's made for. Bad: Hygrometer off, far away. It's said to be within +-5% of indoor humidity (which is normal), but that's not even close. Using the Boveda calibration pack (finds the ideal humidity level in an airtight container to within 0.5 of what's on the pack) and another calibrated hygrometer in the same container, I let it sit overnight. After 24 hours I checked, my calibrated hygrometer read 74% (once), this one read a shocking 60.8, so over 14% down. For the next 24 hours, my calibrated hygrometer fluctuated between 74/75, this fluctuated from 61 and eventually reached 63. That is significantly more than what is stated on the packaging. It gets worse. Since it fluctuates even with constant humidity, you can't just subtract a certain amount to get the correct value (for example, if it shows 70 instead of 75, I can always subtract 5 and get the exact value). There is also no calibration option on this device. Overall: It gets two stars because it tells you the temperature. However, for the price, you can find a cheaper thermometer. It will NOT accurately measure humidity under controlled conditions. So if you need it for a humidor (like me) or something that also requires accurate readings (music equipment, did I hear hatching eggs are like that too?), you'd better spend the more $5 to get something you at least calibrate. If you're just keeping an eye on a room in your house for fun, it might be worth it as you have nothing to lose.
