The display on this radio is dim and difficult to see. It doesn't have much contrast and poor viewing angles. It is normal when the room is viewed horizontally, but if you look straight ahead the display will appear dim and if you look down the display will disappear. A weak display cannot be seen on the road. Thinking this was not normal I emailed Eton customer service but received no response a week later. I assumed it was defective so I sent it back and ordered a replacement but the display was the same and had the same issues. I may have kept it as I used to like it but as Eton still haven't responded I sent it back and bought a similar radio from another manufacturer. The display of my new radio is clearly visible from every angle in direct sunlight. Strangely the display is blue on the Eton website, but on this one the display is red. Maybe they had a vision problem on the red display and switched to blue? I really liked this radio, otherwise it seems to be well made. It has a rubber rim that expands at the front to avoid damaging the display when placed face down. The entire back is a solar panel, but since the display isn't visible in sunlight I couldn't tell how sensitive it was or if it was charging. The sound quality is good and so is the flashlight. The battery was a little low, my phone only charged from 40% to 60% before the battery died. Three stars for good but imperfect radio, minus one for lack of customer support.
