Review on Polk Signature Elite ES35 Slim Center Channel Speaker - Hi-Res Audio Certified by Larry Sabey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Another winner from Polk Audio. Great bang for the buck.

I have had a Polk RM6750 5.1 kit for over a couple of years. While this is a very good mid-range system overall, the center channel speaker has always been a weak point in the system. I found myself constantly adjusting the "sound level" for the center speaker to find an area where the satellites weren't drowning out the movie dialogue coming through the center channel. I did a lot of research and called Polk before deciding on Polk. Slim Audio Signature S35 American HiFi Home Theater Center Speaker on the center channel of a Polk Audio TL2 speaker (each black). Although I'm sure the TL2 is a great speaker on its own. It just wasn't a significant upgrade over the current center channel speaker to justify the price. First off, the Signature Slim (black) center speaker is an absolutely gorgeous work of art. It's also huge and very heavy. Both are understandable given the quality and quantity of speakers in the device. As for the sound quality, it's just amazing. I have a very large collection of movies on BluRay and like any amateur, I watch certain movies multiple times. Trust me, this speaker delivered a remarkable level of response and timbre to voices. I also feel like it provides an extra "boost" for the left and right satellite speakers too. I don't know if it has to do with the SIX 3" cones on the sides of the 1" tweeter, but I attribute the increased clarity to that. Some may say that adding a powerful center channel like this to the RM6750 midrange system is overkill. Maybe, but for me this center channel was an upgrade that brought new life and durability to a more than acceptable sound system. While the S35 may seem expensive as an upgrade, its performance and price per dollar more than justify the price.

Pros
  • REALISTIC SOUND - The ES35's high sensitivity and 4 and 8 ohm compatibility deliver immersive, enveloping and lifelike music streamed online via Apple Music, Amazon Music HD, Spotify and more, and even from the latest versions of Dolby Atmos and DTS:x is streamed. AVR
Cons
  • Long Lead Time
