Review on Comfortably heal post-surgery with Darco Med-Surg Shoe for Women - Large Black by Daniel Tonini

I ordered this shoe from the same brand as my podiatrist's office for hammer toe surgery. Much cheaper than paying at the office. I take women's shoes 10 1/2 and order large women's shoes. Leaving space behind the toes was not enough to protect the toes with the pins inside. The office kindly exchanged my shoes for men's shoes as they were the same brand. So be generous with the size you order. I needed 2 shoes as I had hammer toe surgery on both feet. It's been 4 days since my surgery and the shoes are great. Easy to put on and take off, fairly stiff sole, comfortable. Highly recommended. Very long ankle strap. With the right boot, this isn't a problem as the extra piece hangs "outside" at the ankle. However, since the shoe is universal for both left and right, the left shoe has an extra "inner" ankle and it caught on the opposite shoe and came off. I removed the slack with a safety pin (from the side of the belt before going through the buckle) and solved the problem. The side view of the shoe looks like it has arch support, but it doesn't. The underside of the sole is almost perfectly flat. ; There is a slight increase at the top. When you place your shoes on a flat surface, the tip of the sole is 1/2 inch above the surface. The heel has a slight bevel. The Velcro tab on the front of the shoe can be reversed so you can make a left and right pair of shoes; The ankle strap only works in one direction. Happy with the shoes.
