Review on 🚴 AerGun X-1000 Bike Pump – Innovative AerTight Pump Head for Effortless use with Presta and Schrader Bicycle Pump Valves – Built-in Pressure Gauge – up to 160 PSI by Bob Maldonado

Faulty pressure gauge

The pump works well and just looking at the pump mechanism I would give it 4-5 stars. However, the pressure gauge is off by about 15psi and this huge discrepancy renders the pump useless in my opinion. Without more data, I have no idea how common measurement errors are with this product. But I would caution buyers to be skeptical of the sensor's accuracy. If possible, check your pressure readings with a reliable pressure gauge. The pressure gauge is important because there are risks associated with improper tire pressure, especially over-inflation. Over-inflated tires reduce traction, decrease handling and increase the risk of punctures. They also transmit vibrations that stress bike components and can damage your wrists and spine. It was never clear to me why manufacturers would fit decent quality pumps with poor quality gauges. It would be like producing a mechanically sound car with broken headlights. Yes, it reduces the cost of the pump. And obviously these pumps are sold because most people don't check the accuracy of the pressure gauge. But I'd rather spend a few bucks more for a reasonably accurate gauge than pay for chronically under-inflated tires. Let the buyer be alert.
