I bought this unit to allow my HP Elite x2 to easily stand above my desk and display in both portrait and landscape mode. The block is made from fairly strong steel and holds my 12 inch tablet perfectly. It's called the iPad stand, and my Elite probably weighs twice as much as the iPad, and the stand holds it perfectly in a variety of positions. had some issues when trying to hold my elite in portrait mode. The stand is quite short and my large tablet makes the whole device unstable. I found some heavy paper and put it on the stand base: problem solved. My tablet is now in portrait mode, 2 inches above my desk surface. I needed this gap because the HP Elite needs a place to plug in the power and USB cables on that side.
