Review on πŸ”§ Lisle 31310 Double Flaring Tool Kit by Prettyboy Capers

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Disappointed in Lyle on this one.

It "can" work with 3/16" or 1/4" cupro nickel and aluminum brake lines, but I needed stainless steel fuel lines. When it was delivered, I noticed that the packaging said"Not suitable for stainless steel pipes.". What about "soft" (annealed) 304 or 316 stainless steel tubing? Annealed stainless steel can actually be more ductile than mild steel, so it would be helpful if Lisle could clarify her statement on the use of stainless steel (e.g. type, tube size, maximum wall thickness, etc.). "built in" tools (e.g. CalVan164) by reading reviews on other sites disapproving of this Lisle set. The ruler provides better nozzle alignment, more consistent results, and on-site (on-vehicle) flaring. Lyle didn't slot the fork arms to lock them to the stem, so they tend to wobble/drift when the fork is tightened. After my first review, I downgraded it for bland design, poor quality, and overpriced. I have returned the item. The newer "in-line" flaring tools seem to be a smarter choice for stainless steel tubing.

Pros
  • Great value
Cons
  • Big and bulky
