Review on Sony XBR 85Z9G 85 Inch Master Compatibility by Justin Guldin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best TV on the market

3 months in use, definitely the best TV you can buy right now. Before that I had a 75-inch Z9D and it's quite a significant upgrade, both in terms of size and image quality. Upscaling to 8k works quite well, the picture looks very stunning, like looking out of a window. Peak brightness is handled in the same way. Speaking of brightness, it can handle up to 4000 nits at its highest, HDR performance is fantastic. I also have a 65-inch Sony OLED, the Z9G beats it in both picture quality and HDR performance, only black levels are better with OLED, but overall going from the Z9G to OLED seems like a downgrade too similar to the move from 4k to HD that comparable Samsung products cost up to 13K, and even Sony's underperforming Z8H costs 10K this year. In comparison, the Z9G has almost twice as many zones as Samsung's top-line, has Dolby Vision -Support and a more natural image. Samsung QLED is just a sign On the other hand, their 8k TVs perform worse than 4K OLED TVs, as pointed out by many reviewers comparing LG 4K OLED to Samsung 8k. Please note that the Z9G has 1 HDMI 2.1 port for future use when we have some 8k players, but in the next year or two it's going to be upscaling like it was 4k, so don't base your decision on the number of HDMI 2.1 ports. Not only is this TV good for 8k, it's excellent in every way. It has been named Product of the Year 2019 by many professional reviews and there is no 2020 TV model that can top it. The Z9D was a legendary 4K TV, one of the best out there, it's not easy to beat and for an overall better picture and performance than OLED, this TV pulled it off by a remarkable margin.
