This item installs in an open hole in my dash that used to be for an auxiliary power socket. I bought a used truck and this hole just caught my attention. To the left of this hole is the cigarette lighter socket, which I'm going to plug into the existing socket with the new socket! So far, so good. We will see! 21 July. I installed an outlet and plugged a 10 amp fuse into it and powered it from the underhood fuse box. It works great and is reliable. Further verification during installation, this socket is well made and will outlast me!
