I used this tool to remove a ring on a 1998 Jeep TJ fuel tank. The fingers on the tool are designed to tighten the full length of the ribs on the ring, meaning you can actually apply torque without fear of damaging the nylon ribs. In my case the ring was so frozen I had to loosen it with an impact wrench. Again, the tool has a good design, the central hex head can be used with any tool with a socket, crowbar or, like me, a percussion tool. You are not limited to the grip on the instrument itself. Replacing the ring was trickier than I thought because the fuel module on my tank is spring loaded and the nylon cords can bend without fully engaging. This tool can be tightened on one side and then loosened on the other side, allowing the ring to be conveniently moved by hand (using the tool only) while applying pressure to the part of the ring not yet engaged in the threads.
