Polished brass and overall construction is excellent. We have several corded lightbulbs in our house and the quality/look of this unit is as good as others we have. The remote control is easy to use and the brightness is more than adequate. We only need the lowest settings and the lighting is fine. I haven't had enough time to see if the batteries last as advertised. Others have mentioned that the included wall anchor screw set is inadequate. I tend to agree, but the device is not too heavy. As a precaution, I used a larger anchor. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the LED light isn't as warm as an incandescent bulb. It tends to wash out the colors a bit. Although I would have preferred an incandescent bulb, the convenience of not having to plug it into the household power supply is a good compromise. So I have no problem with the recommendation.
