I have included a video showing what I believe is the practical range of a phone cord. Stars for meeting my personal needs or 3 stars for (which I think can be seen) distortion in usable cable length. I divided the difference and bet 4. He reached 11-1/2 feet. I could probably pull it harder to pull out the last 6 inches, but I was concerned that I might permanently damage the cable. As it turns out, stretching to 11-1/2 feet really changed the line. It keeps getting weaker. I can now use it very comfortably at 6ft. The line itself isn't as "bouncy" or tightly coiled as it used to be, so I'm not sure if the net result of stretching was good or bad.
