Review on ๐ŸฆŸ Flowtron BK-40D: Powerful Electronic Insect Killer for 1 Acre Coverage โ€“ Black by Margarita Conde

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Tens of thousands of bugs were broken in the making of this review.

I have had this product for over a year (452 days according to Alexa). I live on the Georgia coast in the country, so I'm thinking "lots of bugs". I bought this little killer because where I live is quite dark and a large number of bugs are attracted to any light source, even the shaded windows of rooms with the lights on, so every insect imaginable can be found throughout the house at night crawls. My lot is about 2 acres with the house roughly centered, so a large front and back yard. Since I like to spend my evenings in the backyard, I placed the device near the back fence, probably 60-80 feet from the back of the house. The immediate result was a significant reduction in the number of six-legged vermin attracted to backlit windows. The first few weeks were a non-stop chorus of flying demons. I noticed a reduction in pests within a week of installing it. I'm pretty sure even my neighbors who tend to turn off their outdoor lights at night probably noticed the difference too. I started with a timer set for around dusk to dawn, but after about a month the timer broke. I've had it on 24/7 since then (it's only 40 watts). I like to write reviews after using a product for a while to see when it breaks. I am writing this because a lightbulb just burned out. If Alexa got the number of days right (she seemed pretty confident), then the bulb had been on for over 10,000 hours. This is a year in a climate that will destroy most outdoor items fairly quickly. Extreme UV from the sun, heavy dew almost every day, heavy outdoor mold, cold (we're cold, just not for long), lots of rain and a hurricane, and the only problem is a burned out lightbulb after 10,000 hours of continuous use. Yes, I think the 5 stars are deserved. Note: Tens of thousands of bugs were fixed in the making of this review. Edit: I did the calculations and decided to add a new timer. This one has good reviews: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00002NB2X/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and the math says it pays for itself at 12 cents/kWh (national average) 3 Months with the 40W model. If it also extends lamp life, the savings are even greater.
