We made this to give our cat an extra scratching post to roam around our living room. Assembly was easy and the wood seems stronger than the other stand we bought at the time, it had brittle wood and destabilized quickly. It's much more stable. However, our young kitten quickly became accustomed to the ball attached to the end of the feather - it didn't even last a week. and now I find strips of carpet from the underside of the pole strewn about our house as the kitten keeps tearing at the piece. The upper doesn't look like it will last long either. Works in a pinch but don't expect it to last long and if you're looking for something more permanent I would suggest looking further.
