Do you have old binoculars or cameras with synthetic leather coatings or handles? Has it turned into slime over the years? Are you disgusted at the thought of touching them? Don't be afraid anymore This product is your salvation. The coating on my favorite 7x50 night goggles became a sticky mess a few years ago. I stopped using them because every time I touched them, the faux leather grip surface was rubbed off by my fingers, leaving a dirty, sticky residue. For some reason I never thought of replacing it with a leather pad. My moment of insight came a few weeks ago while browsing AMZN for other craft supplies. I was able to remove the old coating intact and use it as a replacement stencil. Along the way I learned that the length of the strips was the most important measurement. Removing the old cover stretched it, so the replacements didn't exactly match. Trimming the edges for a precise fit was easy once attached to the binoculars barrels. For the first two pieces, I didn't measure the length exactly so the ends would fit together nicely. The first one was a little short, so I filled in the tiny gap with clear craft glue. The second was closer, so I left him alone. For the last two pieces, I intentionally cut them off a bit and just overlapped the ends in an inconspicuous place. Applying the new parts has allowed me to "manage" them a bit over time. The material of the patch has a slight stretch, giving you some flexibility to shape it over or around simple bends, or make small course corrections if you didn't start at the right angle to stick. The adhesive on these patches appears to be very strong. I don't know yet how it will stand up to heat (left in a hot car) or humidity (at night with heavy dew). I hope it will be fine.
