Happy with this smaller version

I read so many reviews about this model and not Jr. models and debated several times which option to choose. I was looking for something to compress/wrap and I wanted it to be something my son would use for a few years. I ended up going for the JR version (of this model) and here's why: - He is now 14 months old and way too small for his age. I wanted him to benefit now but also be something he can grow into. Can sit alone at the table. (Then he usually climbs up and sits himself on the table, but that's another story.) The big model seemed too big. We currently only have one child so we don't need a picnic table for 6 toddlers. I see this table where 4 children are sitting comfortably. Ultimately, space (or lack of space, to be more precise) was the factor that weighed the most. It was smaller, could be folded, and generally suited our needs at the time. Assembly: When I opened the box I was a bit surprised (and happy!) that I was able to put everything together without having to look for any tools. There are 3 different parts: table top, seats (2) and side legs (2). Each piece is large, very different, and different colors, so it seemed very simple. Installing the seats was a bit fiddly. I made a few dents trying to slide it in the wrong place (it was a bit tricky to line it up right, oops) but it still ended well. Although I can't see it. Oh! One more note. Before purchasing I was wondering if the countertop would be smooth or the uneven, rough texture often seen on those large plastic children's toys/furniture. I remember as kids we had the "textured" side, so coloring with crayons was a bit like "rubbing" (remember the ones in art class?). All parts are rough/uneven EXCEPT the tabletop - perfectly smooth for coloring with colored pencils with no texture! Overall, I'm glad I ended up going for the smaller version. Good luck with your decision!
