Review on Emerson CKS1800 SmartSet Radio Display by Cori Nance

Revainrating 3 out of 5

At least it does the basic timing function very well!

Worked right away. It took me a while to realize that these clocks aren't really atomic, they just show the time set even when unplugged. This fact eluded me and I've always wondered why the time is 2 minutes off my actual atomic clock. At some point in the future, the internal calendar got messed up. The alarm clock didn't work on Mondays and Tuesdays, but it did on Saturdays and Sundays. I've now checked the year, month, and day at least two dozen times. If the date is set accurately and the alarm is set to 5-day (MF) mode, the days will not display correctly. If you check the day of the week (represented by the number 1-7), there are always two days off. Searched, searched, searched, but found no solution. I have even sent contacts to Emerson through their website and via Twitter but never received a reply. I ended up setting the calendar to two days to fix the alarm issue. I bought this alarm clock specifically so the kids would have a clock that would go off automatically on the right days and this clock fails miserably at what it was designed to do. Whether you need a daily alarm clock or just want a clock radio, this is a great fit. Don't buy this if you want a clock that only turns on automatically on weekends or only on weekdays. This isn't the one.
