EDIT: I previously wrote a review below but it was very premature and I have rewritten the review and since changed those soft jaws. See photo and now I've noticed the magnets there have lost strength to almost zero holding power and keep falling off at the slightest touch, very annoying. If you read below, you'll understand why I modified the soft jaws by removing the top magnets and severely grinding the aluminum profile to just 5/64" thick so the jaws don't move when you try to pinch something keep. hard vice jaws. Works a million times better and now I'm happy with them. I am so disappointed with these soft sponges that I went back to the old ones. These sponges can't hold anything small without constantly getting up; I find them useless. I've tried many different ways to hold and tighten small items, but it never worked. It's only good when you need to wedge something deep in soft sponges. See my 3rd and 5th photos. The item in the 3rd photo does not stay in place and does not work. The problem/con is that part of the design is the soft pine top, there is too much of it. They protrude too high above the fixed cams and create a fulcrum/fulcrum causing the cams to lock, loosen and move apart. To prevent this you need to pinch the center of the subject about halfway to the fixed jaw or below. My old soft jaw (silver) in the photo may have the same problem, but not as severely, and my old jaws had more cushioning and protection, especially further up where there is very little protection from the aluminum profile. These new jaws are useless to me. me. They are good for clamping large items deep in the jaws and for accessing the part from the side, hence getting 2 stars instead of 1 star. Premature and False Review Below: I have a Wilton C0 3-1/2" Bullet Vise and have recently found that I use soft jaws on it more often. I have milled my own brass and live oak jaws for this but found it nice to have the versatility to quickly switch hard jaws to soft ones. I bought the 4" wide ones and trimmed the ends to the width of my jaw. The band saw cut them in a few seconds (Olson 10 tpi blade from Revain), cuts easily and cleanly. I'm not sure I like the golden color but it can grow on me. The rubber part of the jaw is soft, there are a lot of pillows in the middle of the pads, and they don't flex when they clamp a little hard, they compress well and return to their original shape after heavy compression (no memory), am about that very satisfied, the upper rubber rim has significantly less rubber behind it than the middle one due to the alu profile.
