I have been a chef for many years. On my feet all the time at work, up and down stairs, 4000-6000 easy steps a day at work. I've worn Danskos and Blundstones over the years. Both models are great for a chef or anyone who walks a lot. I also firmly believe that good shoes are worth the money for those who walk a lot. I didn't even bat an eyelid after spending over $100-$150 on a good pair of work shoes. I bought these DDTX shoes on a whim while shopping for gifts last year. They are plastic and very shiny, I didn't have high hopes at first. The run-in didn't take too long and is quite pleasant in terms of support. Very similar to Dansko but without the thick sole. For the money this was the best work shoe I have ever bought.
