Other reviewers were surprised to find that it wasn't live moss to plant. Or that it doesn't stay bright green forever. This is because this moss does not say it is alive or permanent. However, it is exactly what it says, potted green leaf moss that is great for laying on top of the soil in your pots. It retains moisture about 5 times longer than nothing and encourages microbial life in the soil, which is good for your plants too. I've been using it this way for three years now and let me tell you it has saved me at least 10x the cost of wasted plants that don't dry out and 80% fewer trips to the water in my climate. And while NOT alive, it pills when wet and looks like it's alive. But this is only the first year; If you reuse it where it doesn't show up next year, it will never look as good as it did the first year. I only wish I could give it 20 stars to compensate for people not reading what they buy. then complain.
