LCD not bright enough/ no longer works after 1 year

Update after 1 year: LCD no longer works. Really disappointed. Old rating if newer —&gt; 3 out of 5 because the LCD screen cannot light up bright enough in daylight to be seen well. Since this is what you need almost every time you use it, it's no good. I went through the manual and tried all the different contrast and brightness settings and couldn't get it bright, although the brightness level worked. The self-test feature is handy - not sure how accurate it is compared to the built-in meter, but I was able to modulate the readings as I changed the length of the antenna.
