I did not purchase this for general use. My son really liked the one in the doctor's office to distract the little ones so I thought I'd buy him his own to play with as a sensory object. I've been going back and forth between this one and another one here on Revain that's luminous but has a four-legged orb top. I couldn't decide and they were cheap enough so I took both. PLEASE learn from my mistake and just spend the extra $2 on the HoMedics brand! Both massagers arrive and I don't know they're cool until the nurse gives them to you. Well, now mom can use it for the various muscle spasms that accompany a severe herniated disc! We have to see the positive, right? 1) It's strong enough to relieve moderate muscle pain and promote fascial relaxation - if you push hard enough. Not even close to relieving low back tension and spasms from a herniated disc, but if you're in the same boat as me, you know nothing really works! I find it very helpful for my husband's neck and back after work and for myself with leg/calf pain. My senior also uses it to reduce the damage it does on heavy lifting days. 2) The build quality is excellent! As expected from HoMedics, the plastic is thick and strong, the button is secure, the backlight works perfectly, and all the parts fit together perfectly. allows me to push harder without causing discomfort. Did I mention I also have carpal tunnel? I'm waiting for heart failure and complete tooth loss - listen to the elders, children!
